TODAY AT 4am on Cleavage. So happy to be able to contribute to Cleavage and Kelly Diels’ creative work!
Kelly is a gem. I’ve been reading her for a long time and I tell ya, not many people have such an affair with words as she has. She’s brilliant. And now we’re starting new series called : Women You Must Know since we’re both women, feminists, creatives.

Some time ago I had a show called Tragic Genius/Lost Women which had a similar premise; to underline the work of women who care/d.

So there it starts. The women of now and then whom you just must know.

JUST NOW. That orange green tea is brewing. Still responding to all emails I must respond to after being in Poland for a month. Missing Baltic Sea, parents (yeah..I’m old, but still), Tapsiu (dog) . Not missing no AC, drinking on the streets guys, lack of kale.

MONDAY.

Just brewed up my favorite green tea : Orange Blossoms by Rishi Tea. Coffee has been quit. And I mean has been, because I really didn’t have to do much—the body decided for me. Oh, relief.

WHAT’S IN THE PAST.

1.  I’ve been listening to most Hay House Summit interviews. Really loved most of them. All Marianne Williamson + Kris Car + Doreen Virtue + Anita Moorjani talks. But the later one has been on my mind for a while. Watch/hear Anita talking about her NDE (near death experience) . Only, if you’re believer in that you don’t know everything, yo. Oh? You’re surprised I’m a woo-woo person? Somewhat. I just like this stuff. Keeps my brain on the constant guessing edge. Not mentioning that it make my heart grow.
2. The most colorful Tziporah Salamonand the article on Collectors Weekly.
   

   Men love women in hats. Women think that they need to show tits and ass. Put on a hat, and you’ll get noticed much quicker. It’s true! And there are so many great hats out there.

4. On Sunday, when I saw this nice tweet :

   Of course I’m super psyched, but regardless (Thank you Hosti!) — I feel like I need to make it clear again and again and again :

1. Hopefully, a project with an awesome design agency featuring my food illustrations. I have no idea, who’s the client, but I sent the requested test illustration of a pineapple + kiwi + orange and I’m crossing my fingers for becoming a part of their team working on this secret project. It’s funny how much food illustration work is coming my way. Perfect. 
2. Monday water fasts. They’re on the calendar until forever. I used to do a one day/week on water fast a long time ago, as a (grr) smoking teenager. I’ve always been full of contradictions, oh well. The 1 day water fast came back (no, I don’t smoke since ages. no, I’m not a teenager anymore. buu.) and I’m loving them.
3. Thinking about lightening my hair ends, but also wondering, if it’s already passé, and then thinking, if I even care, if it’s passé.
4. Poland in 11.5 month. I need to keep writing it, here and there, seeing that the number get’s smaller. Miss Poland.

Done is Better > Perfect :: Lettering Marta Spendowska

Because it is. Because perfectionism makes you pause for much too long. Because nothing in this world is perfect, except maybe a hummingbird, or a turtle, or an iris.

Some days you just need to waste bunch of paper to get to the at-least-acceptable piece of artwork. Spill out some ink, maybe cry a bit, when the drawing isn’t happening, because the period is coming or someone didn’t pay their invoice.
Some days are tougher and if Mercury is in Retrograde you better take Theresa’s tips.

Just don’t stop. Clean up that spilled ink, take a shower, send another email with another invoice and for sure just back up all your files. Usually, after the walk, things start happening. So go and walk.

Steps Away App :: Illustrations by Marta Spendowska

Ah! June! JUNE. J U N E . How fast you showed up. So every time you feel that nuh, it’s going to take too long — think. Time flies and the too long is already here.
So, I’m back from Poland and I’m preparing this health/wakeupcall/insight post that seems still too heavy and medical. It’s coming.

But for now I’m going to share the not latest work, but newly published with the ever so awesome Y Media Labs agency. Until just now I had no idea who is the client (that’s how usually it is in the illustration-art director/agency collaboration) and today I know that I’ve been drawing for Allan Haims, the President and CEO of StepsAway, who has been a President of Wet Seal, Senior Vice President of Disney Stores, Worldwide; V.P. of Merchandising at Victoria’s Secret (uff!). Pretty cool. I’m so happy I fulfilled their expectations. I have a green light to share with you some of the illustrations that I made for them. I think they’re going to show up on the app with time.
